About the ensemble

Named after the learned society of “dissonanti” established in Modena in the 1680s, the Accademia brings together leading period-instrument musicians from Europe and North America. Under the artistic direction of Elinor Frey, the ensemble champions rarely-heard Italian and French cello repertoire — from Dall'Abaco and Vandini to Jean Baur and C. P. E. Bach — alongside concerts, publications, and educational academies centred on historical performance and creative research.
